Benoa's Bali Maritime Tourism Hub is reported by Emerhub to offer berths up to 90 m, and media reports give different berth counts for a marina project. Bali is a convenient place to view a boat and a harder place to compare prices. Some boats pass through for fit-out, but we did not find a clear published set of Bali listings to quote. This guide sets out what we did find and what we could not.

Why look in Bali: fit-out yards, buyers and departures to Komodo?

Juara Holding Group builder sites report that hulls are often built in South Sulawesi, then towed to Bali, Surabaya or Jakarta for engines, systems and interiors. Read that as builders' reporting. We have no verified list of Bali yards or their rates, and name none here.

Emerhub puts Labuan Bajo about 270 nautical miles east of Bali, and it reports operators working Bali to Komodo from May to October. Taken together, that suggests a few practical points:

• Boats may be in Bali for fit-out or between seasons, so availability varies across the year.
• A boat seen in Bali may have spent most of her life somewhere else, so ask.
• Delivery to Komodo waters is a real passage, and needs a seaworthy boat and sailing approval.

Bali's strength for a buyer is access. Repeat visits are easier to plan, and so is bringing in a specialist from abroad.

What has been reported about Benoa, BMTH and the marina?

Sources differ, and the facilities are still changing, so treat these as reports rather than a current directory.

Do not budget on a berth you have not confirmed in writing. Published capacity is not the same as space being available for a wooden boat of your length and draft.

How do you find used wooden boats in Bali?

There isn't one complete source. Use several routes, and write down where each lead came from:

1. Listing sites and brokers. Check the international and Indonesian listing sites for boats located in Bali.
2. Yards doing fit-out. Ask whether any owner is looking to sell, or whether a project has stalled.
3. Word of mouth. Crew, agents and marina staff may know, although that kind of lead tends to be less documented.
4. The listing-request desk. Send us your criteria, and we will look for what is currently available.

What does keeping a wooden yacht in Bali involve?

Consider the place where she will actually live. Questions worth asking before you buy:

• Berth or mooring. Which is available, for how long, and with what permission?
• Exposure. Is the berth protected during the wetter months, and how much swell gets in?
• Care. Who is aboard regularly to check bilges and ventilate? Rot develops with trapped moisture, per Cali Coast Marine Services.
• Bottom protection. Warm water means antifouling cannot wait. Teredo and gribble can do damage within a season if bottom paint fails.
• Foreign flag. Ministry material says a foreign tourist yacht on its visiting regime may not be commercialised or chartered in Indonesian waters.

Neptune Liveaboards gives Komodo's dry season as about April to October or November. If you plan to base in Bali and cruise east, fit your maintenance around those months.

What could we not verify about Bali asking prices?

We found no sourced asking price specifically for a wooden yacht located in Bali at the time we checked. The published examples we hold sit in Labuan Bajo, Jakarta, Raja Ampat, the Philippines and Europe. Three things to resist in the meantime:

• A verbal "Bali price" with no boat attached.
• A price that includes "everything" without an inventory.
• A comparison with a boat elsewhere that ignores delivery, condition and permits.

Survey findings will tell you far more about what a boat is worth to you than her location will.

How do you arrange a surveyor and haul-out in Bali?

We name no surveyors or yards, because we have not verified any. Choose by experience with timber construction, and ask for a sample report.

1. Ask the surveyor directly about their wooden-hull experience and any ties to the seller or yard.
2. Confirm that a slip can take the boat, and book it with enough time. IIMS recommends allowing at least a week.
3. Agree who pays for the lift, the days ashore and the relaunch.
4. Schedule the sea trial alongside the survey, in suitable conditions.
5. Keep every report in your own name.

How much is a wooden yacht in Bali?

We have no Bali-specific asking price to quote. Our price guide shows sourced listings from Labuan Bajo, Jakarta, Raja Ampat and elsewhere, and a boat's location is only one factor. Length, condition, fit-out and permits weigh more, so ask for the current listing and its source.

Where can I find used wooden boats in Bali?

Look through international listing sites, broker stock, fit-out yards and word of mouth around Benoa. Boats that are not formally listed can come up, but they tend to need more checking. Ask for documents and a survey in every case, whatever the route.

Is Benoa a marina for superyachts?

Emerhub reports that the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub at Benoa offers berths for superyachts up to 90 m. Media reports give about 120 berths in one account and 180 in another, possibly a different project, with timing subject to change. Check what is actually open, and whether a wooden yacht of your size can use it.

Can I find a wooden yacht for sale in Lombok instead?

We have no verified Lombok listings or facility details to report at this stage. The same checks would apply there as anywhere: survey, haul-out, sea trial and documents. Send the desk your criteria, and we will tell you if we find something with a source.

Why would I buy in Bali rather than Labuan Bajo?

Builder sources describe Bali as a fit-out location, and access is straightforward. Labuan Bajo has a larger published working fleet. It may suit you to shortlist both, then decide after seeing each boat's condition and how easy a proper haul-out will be.
