By Wooden Yacht For Sale Editorial Desk
Asking prices, not valuations: prices on this page are quoted as published by third-party brokers and marketplaces, with source and check month. Every boat is subject to third-party survey, haul-out and document check. Nothing here is legal advice.
Wooden yacht price examples published in October 2026 run from a 14.75 m boat built in 2015 on KapalAku to a 47 m ten-cabin vessel at Yacht Sourcing, with a 19.8 m 2016 build and a 2012 custom on YachtWorld between them. Every figure sits in the table with source and month, as an indicative asking price.
How much does a wooden yacht cost? The honest answer is that a boat's length gives you very little to go on. This page shows you what was asked in public, why those numbers vary so much, and how to turn them into a sensible offer.
How do we quote wooden yacht prices?
Our rule is simple. We show a price only as published, in the table that carries its source, currency and the month we checked it. You will not find a price in our prose, and you will not find an average. An average of a 14.75 m forum post and a 47 m broker listing would mean nothing.
| We do | We do not |
|---|---|
| Quote the figure as the source publishes it | Round, average or convert it into a valuation |
| Show source and month checked | Claim the boat is still available |
| Flag a snippet, a forum post or an expired listing | Treat those as equal to a live broker page |
| Separate third-party sources from our group's own sites | Cite Juara Holding Group sites as market data |
Some rows are weaker than others. We could not reopen the YachtWorld pages, so those rows rest on search listings. KapalAku's posting date is uncertain. Boat Guru's listing has expired, and Bursakapal's row is a June 2026 snippet.
What were wooden hulls asking by length, from 15 m to 47 m?
Below is how the examples group by length. Figures are in the price table on this page, because that is where they can carry their source.
| Length | Example | Location | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 14.75 m | Built 2015, forum post | Labuan Bajo | Marked negotiable, date uncertain |
| 19.8 m | Custom built 2016 | Coron, Philippines | Snippet shows 80 hp and 760 engine hours |
| 27.7 m (91 ft) | Dive liveaboard, 2023 | Labuan Bajo | Listing expired |
| 30.5 m | Manta Mae, five cabins | Raja Ampat | Yacht Sourcing |
| 39.75 m | Sotis, six cabins | Jakarta | Yacht Sourcing |
| 40 m | Unfinished project | Labuan Bajo | Company takeover, about nine months of work left |
| 47 m | Mutiara, ten cabins | Labuan Bajo | Yacht Sourcing |
Look at the 40 m row against the 39.75 m row. The lengths are almost identical, yet one is an unfinished company takeover. Any price-per-metre rule falls apart right there.
Classic European yachts form a separate market. Their asking prices sit on our page about the classic wooden yacht, and they should not be used to value an Indonesian hull, or the reverse.
Why can two boats of similar length differ so widely?
Several factors move a wooden boat's price, and few appear in the headline.
- Stage of completion. A hull, a fitted-out boat and an operating business are three different products.
- Timber and build quality. Which timber sits where, how it was fastened, and how it was seasoned.
- Finish and systems. Air conditioning, generators, tenders and dive gear can add greatly to a fit-out.
- Machinery. Engine make, hours and service history.
- Condition. The state of the hull, known only after a survey.
- Documents and permits. Clean, transferable papers add value. Gaps subtract it.
- Location. A boat far from where you plan to use it needs a delivery.
- Tax status. One classic in our data states VAT not paid, and another adds VAT to its price.
- Seller's position. A motivated seller and a patient one will treat the same boat differently.
These are reasons to investigate, not numbers we can give you. We have no verified public data on how much each factor adds or subtracts, or on depreciation rates for wooden yachts.
What does a used price leave out?
Asking prices exclude a list of real costs. Here is what each one depends on, with figures left to their sources.
| Cost | What drives it | Where to find a figure |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-purchase survey | Length, age, complexity | Global Yacht Guide's 2026 survey guide; older boats can cost more |
| Haul-out | Length and yard, billed separately | Global Yacht Guide's calculator |
| Insurance survey | Underwriter's terms | World Yacht Insurance's guide |
| Delivery | Distance, season, crew, fuel | Ask a skipper; no verified public figure |
| Registration and transfer | PNBP tariff on the date of service | Ask KSOP or DJPL; do not use old figures |
| Commission | Contract; usually paid by the seller | YachtWorld describes 10 percent as an international norm |
| Refit | Survey findings | Yard quote; see refit cost guide |
Those survey guides are third-party publications from 2026, not quotes for Indonesia. Treat them as a starting point when you ask for local quotes.
How do you negotiate from a survey report?
A survey report turns "I think it's worth less" into something a seller has to answer. Here's a workable method.
- Offer subject to survey and sea trial. Put it in writing, with a stakeholder holding the deposit.
- Sort findings into three groups: safety items, structural items, and cosmetic items.
- Get quotes. A yard's written number carries more weight than your estimate.
- Choose a remedy. The seller fixes it, you take a lower price, or you walk away.
- Record the outcome. Any new price or repair goes in a signed addendum before acceptance.
Comparable sales are the strongest evidence, and brokers treat recent closed sales as a better basis than asking prices. Wooden yacht sales are rarely public, which limits what anyone can show you, so be cautious of anyone claiming a precise market value. A wooden yacht appraisal is a professional's opinion. Ask who wrote it, and for what purpose.
How does a used price compare with a new build?
Emerhub (March 2026) says a well-appointed 20 to 25 m new build takes 12 to 24 months, and it publishes a figure you can read at the source. The table has used hulls just either side of that range (19.8 m and 27.7 m), but they carry survey risk and possibly a refit.
Direct comparison needs care, because a used boat's asking price and a new-build quote include different things. Our new build against used comparison works through time, risk and resale. For the pre-owned checks that apply before you compare, see the used wooden yacht checklist.
Asking prices we checked
Public asking prices from third-party brokers, marketplaces and forums, each with its source and the month we checked it. Asking prices are not valuations or sale prices, they exclude survey, delivery, registration and tax, and listings may already be gone.

What do buyers ask about wooden yacht prices?
These answers explain how to use the table rather than repeat it.
How much is a wooden yacht?
Published asking prices vary from small forum boats to large broker listings and classic yachts, all quoted in the table on this page. Length alone does not set the figure. Type, condition, fit-out, permits and location all shift it.
What is a wooden yacht's market value?
Market value is what a buyer pays, and wooden yacht sale prices are rarely public. Asking prices give a rough reference point. For a specific boat, ask a surveyor or broker for a written opinion and find out what evidence they used.
Does an asking price include survey and delivery?
No. The prices we quote exclude survey, haul-out, delivery, registration and tax. Ask the seller exactly what the figure includes, especially tenders, dive gear and spares.
Do wooden yachts hold their value?
We have no verified public data on depreciation or resale for wooden yachts in Indonesia. Condition, records and permits clearly matter. Be cautious of any percentage offered without a source.
Are there closing costs on a wooden yacht purchase?
Expect legal and notary fees, registration, survey, haul-out and possibly tax. Official registry fees follow the PNBP tariff at the date of service. We have no verified public figure, so ask your lawyer for a written estimate.
Which sources support this page?
