By Wooden Yacht For Sale Editorial Desk
Asking prices, not valuations: prices on this page are quoted as published by third-party brokers and marketplaces, with source and check month. Every boat is subject to third-party survey, haul-out and document check. Nothing here is legal advice.
To sell my wooden yacht through this desk, send length, year, timber, engine hours, last haul-out, documents held and your asking price. We compare it with published listings and prepare a sourced summary. Where you appoint us, brokerage runs under a written contract with PT Komodo Bahari Nusantara, with terms stated first.
Selling a wooden boat takes longer than most owners expect, and buyers are rightly cautious. A clear file does more for a sale than clever wording. This page explains how the desk works, and what you can do to make your boat easier to buy.
What does the listing-request desk do, and what does it not do?
| The desk does | The desk does not |
|---|---|
| Read your specification and documents list | Own, hold or buy your boat |
| Compare your asking price with published listings | Give a certified valuation |
| Prepare a sourced summary for serious buyers | Say your boat is surveyed, classed or sound without a report |
| Pass qualified enquiries to you | Promise a sale, a price or a date |
| State terms before any agreement | Replace your lawyer, notary or surveyor |
Brokerage contracts sit with PT Komodo Bahari Nusantara, and construction, repair, refit and vessel-sale contracts with PT Komodo Galangan Nusantara. Wooden Yacht For Sale itself is a specialist maritime brand under Juara Holding Group. The site itself holds no boats.
What do we need from you: specification, documents, photos and price?
Send what you have. Gaps are normal, and it helps to know about them early.
- Specification. Length, beam, draft, gross tonnage, year built, any rebuild date, builder and designer.
- Construction. Timber by area, fastening material, ballast, deck type, known repairs.
- Machinery. Engine make, hours, last service, generators, tanks.
- Rig. Type, sail inventory, last rig check, whether the sails are used.
- Last haul-out. Date, yard and what was done.
- Documents. Surat Ukur, Grosse Akta, transfer history, any mortgage, nationality document, certificates. Abroad: bill of sale chain, registry transcript, tax status.
- Use. Private or commercial, and which permits are held and by whom.
- Location. Where the boat lies, and how a buyer can view it.
- Price. Your asking figure, whether it is firm, and your timing.
- Photos. Recent ones you own the rights to, including bilge and engine, not only the deck at sunset.
How does valuation from comparables work, using October 2026 asking prices?
We start from the examples in the price table on this page, and any others we can source. Then we tell you where your figure sits and what explains the difference. Yacht Service Network's broker guide notes that the soundest basis is recent closed sales, adjusted for age, equipment, hours, maintenance, refit quality, location and condition. Current asking prices and an owner's past spending are weaker evidence.
Wooden yacht closed sales are rarely public, so we usually have only asking prices. That limits how confident anyone can be. It also means a valuation is an opinion and not a certificate. See the published wooden yacht prices by length to compare for yourself.
Points that help or hurt a comparison:
| Helps | Hurts |
|---|---|
| Recent survey report | No haul-out for years |
| Rebuild records, with invoices | "Fully refitted" with no paperwork |
| Clean, matching documents | Mortgage or name mismatch |
| Berth where buyers can view | Remote location with no slip |
| Permits that can transfer | Licences tied to a company that is not for sale |
How should you prepare the boat: survey report, haul-out and document file?
A buyer will commission a survey of their own, and they should. A recent report of yours still helps. It reduces uncertainty on planks, frames, open seams, rot and fastenings, and it moves talk from guesses to evidence. You may also learn about problems early enough to fix them on your terms.
Our survey checklist for wooden hulls shows what a buyer's surveyor will want. Before they arrive:
- Stop leaks at the source. Deck fittings and joints first, since trapped water is where rot begins.
- Clean and air the boat. A clean bilge is easier to inspect and speaks well of the owner.
- Do not hide things. Fresh paint over a repair invites suspicion. Keep the records.
- Keep the hull in the water if you can. Long periods ashore dry the planks and open the seams, and a leaking launch makes a poor impression.
- Assemble the file. Survey, service and repair records, manuals, certificates and receipts, as the Breeze Yachting seller's playbook also suggests.
- Write the inventory. What is included or excluded: tenders, sails, electronics, spares, dive gear and furnishings.
- Clear the mortgage plan. If there is one, show how it will be settled at closing.
How to sell a wooden yacht, from first message to closing?
If you are wondering how to sell a wooden boat without losing months, it helps to see the whole path. Timing varies, and we have no verified public figure for how long a wooden yacht takes to sell.
- First contact. You send the specification and the documents list.
- Comparison. The desk compares your figure with published listings and tells you where it sits.
- Agreement. Terms are stated in writing before anything is marketed.
- Summary. A sourced description is prepared, with your facts and your photos.
- Enquiries. Enquiries reach you through the desk, and viewings are arranged around your use of the boat.
- Offer. A written offer, conditional on survey and sea trial, with a stakeholder holding the deposit.
- Survey. The buyer's surveyor inspects the boat after a haul-out.
- Negotiation. Findings may lead to a new price, repairs or withdrawal.
- Closing. Documents and balance change hands, with any mortgage cleared.
To sell a wooden yacht in Indonesia, expect the closing stage to run through a notary and the registry. To sell a classic wooden yacht, expect a buyer to spend more time on provenance. In either case, a tidy file is the part you control.
How do commission and co-brokerage work, and how are fees stated?
YachtWorld describes the usual arrangement as 10 percent commission, paid by the seller at closing, which may be shared with a buyer's broker (co-brokerage). We treat that as a third-party norm, not our rate. We have no verified public figure for Indonesia.
Where an introduction leads to a sale, any fee is stated before any agreement. Brokerage terms go through PT Komodo Bahari Nusantara, in writing. If you have an existing broker, tell us, so nobody's agreement gets stepped on. Our guide to wooden yacht broker commission covers what to check in a brokerage contract.
How are buyers vetted, and how are deposit and escrow handled?
Protect your time and your boat. A serious buyer should be able to answer simple questions about funds, use, flag plan and timing. Before you accept viewings aboard, ask for:
- A written expression of interest, with use and timing.
- Who the buyer is, and which company if one is involved.
- Reasonable proof of funds at offer stage.
- Agreement that survey and haul-out are at their cost, in a yard you both accept.
Deposits go to a stakeholder named in the signed contract. MYBA's 2021 form leaves the amount to negotiation, and requires the stakeholder to hold it before the sea trial or condition survey. In Indonesia, Emerhub describes the transfer through an Akta Jual Beli before a notary, with survey and sea trial coming first. Our note on deposits and escrow gives the mechanics.
Asking prices we checked
Public asking prices from third-party brokers, marketplaces and forums, each with its source and the month we checked it. Asking prices are not valuations or sale prices, they exclude survey, delivery, registration and tax, and listings may already be gone.

What do owners ask before listing a wooden yacht?
These questions come up when owners first contact the desk.
How do I list my wooden yacht for sale?
Send the desk your specification, last haul-out, documents held and asking price through WhatsApp or email. We compare it with published listings and tell you what we need next. Terms are stated before any agreement.
How much commission will I pay?
As a third-party norm, not our rate, YachtWorld describes 10 percent, paid by the seller at closing, as the common international arrangement. We have no verified public figure for Indonesia. Any fee on a sale through our desk is stated in writing before you agree.
Do I need a survey before selling?
It is not required, but a recent report helps a buyer trust your description. Expect the buyer to commission their own too. Your report also shows you what they are likely to find.
Can you sell a classic wooden yacht in Indonesia or abroad?
Send details wherever the boat lies. Classic yachts sell on provenance and rebuild records as much as condition, so include those. We will tell you plainly if we are unlikely to find the right buyer.
Should I sell privately?
You can. A private seller needs the same title, tax, technical and inventory file. You then handle enquiries, viewings, the contract and closing yourself, and you remain responsible for accurate disclosure.
